As liquid LPG is lighter than water, the water injected into the tank will hold the LPG to the water surface, isolating the LPG from the leak. In the process of plugging the leak, the release valve at the top of the tank can be opened to release the gaseous LPG, which is less likely to form a hazard and reduces the pressure in the tank.

Ventilation and Tank Environment: Sufficient space must be provided around the tank for adequate airflow. It is important to keep the area around the tank clean and free of debris to prevent the formation of heavier-than-air LPG vapors in the event of a leak.
