As liquid LPG is lighter than water, the water injected into the tank will hold the LPG to the water surface, isolating the LPG from the leak. At this point, the main spray from the leak is water rather than pure LPG, and then other methods are used to plug the leak. In the process of plugging the leak, the release valve at the top of the tank can be opened to release the gaseous LPG, which is less likely to form a hazard and reduces the pressure in the tank.

Liquefied gas storage tanks should be installed in a well ventilated area. and at least 1.5 meters away from the fire or heat source.
