The Technical Specification for Gas Filling Stations has different requirements for the safety fire spacing between storage tanks and surrounding buildings in underground and aboveground stations for filling stations with the same volume of LPG storage.

China refers to the requirements of NFPA58, the International Mechanical Fire Protection Association of America, for the grading of filling stations, the total volume of filling stations <20m³ is the third class filling station, 20m³ <V <40m³ is the second class filling station, 40m³ <V <60m³ is the first class LPG filling station. 60m³, the safety distance from the storage tank to the civil building is 45m, the safety distance from the distribution station is 45m, the safety distance from the sewer and heating tank is 10m, the safety distance from the road is 15m, the underground LPG storage tank 40m³<V<60m³, the safety distance from the storage tank to the civil building is 25m, the safety distance from the distribution station is 22m, the safety distance from the sewer and heating tank is 15m. The safety distance from the tank to the civil building is 25m, the safety distance from the distribution station is 22m, the safety distance from the sewer and heating tank is 6m, and the safety distance from the highway is 10m, which is basically equivalent to saying that the safety distance required for underground LPG storage tank is half compared to that for aboveground LPG storage tank.
