A multistage pump is similar in design to a centrifugal pump in that numerous impellers rotate around a shaft, allowing the pump to achieve higher pressures than if only one impeller were utilized.

The vanes provide a tight seal against the wall of the pumping chamber, preventing fluid from seeping back across the pump. Vane pumps are especially useful for pumping thin liquids under high pressure. The pumps provide low pulsation, precise flows, and reinforced components to resist wear and increase pump life.
