Preparations for the first filling of cryogenic storage tanks

By Manager
Date: Aug 05, 2020
The first filling is usually to fill the inner container of a cryogenic storage tank at room temperature (including the cryogenic storage tank that has been reactivated after storing cryogenic liquid for a period of time).

Before filling for the first time, check and calibrate the level gauge and pressure gauge, check whether the various valves are in the correct opening and closing state, and whether the pipeline is unblocked; open the pressure gauge valve, and follow the level gauge operating procedures to make the level gauge work status.

When the liquid cryogenic storage tank is used for high-purity cryogenic liquid, it must be blown off and replaced. The method is: use 70℃~80℃ dry oil-free air or nitrogen, heat to blow off the inner container, the blowing time should not be less than 8 hours, and then replace it with product gas; for nitrogen lighter than air, use the vent valve It is introduced at V-12 and discharged from the bottom liquid inlet and outlet valve V-1. For oxygen or argon that is heavier than air, it should be introduced from the bottom liquid inlet and outlet valve V-1 and discharged from the vent valve V-12. When the tank pressure reaches 0.1-0.2MPa, the replaced gas is discharged. Repeat this several times, and the purity of the discharged gas is tested, and the replacement can be stopped after it is satisfied; the product gas should also be blown off for each valve and pipe to meet the purity Requirements; positive pressure seal after replacement to prevent inhalation of outside air.

It is not necessary to carry out the above-mentioned blowing and replacement treatment for filling and storing general cryogenic liquid.

For the first filling and filling, it is recommended to use normal pressure filling, that is, open the inner container vent valve V-12 before filling and close it after the full treatment is completed. The inner container is at normal pressure or low pressure during the filling process, which is convenient for operation; To fill rare or precious cryogenic liquids, the inner cylinder of the cryogenic storage tank can be cooled with liquid nitrogen, and then replaced with low-temperature product gas to the specified purity, and then filled with cryogenic liquid. The filling can be filled with pressure.
